Barnsley Dementia Action Alliance is a volunteer and community led group, which supports people living with dementia to live in their own home and community as independently as possible, by asking businesses and community groups to become dementia friendly. Are you a community group or organisation needing help towards a project? If so, Barnsley Carers Service may be able to help. We are offering a grant of up to £1000 towards a project that meets with the carers strategy aims. Grants for Carers
Are you a carer in need of a little treat for yourself? If so one of our Carers Grants may be just the thing for you. If you are a carer, living in the Barnsley area and over the age of 18 you may be eligble for up to £250. This is for you as a carer and can be used for things like hobbies, day trips, pamper days, educational course, driving lessons or equipment to enhance your caring role. Dementia friendly initiative
Barnsley Dementia Action Alliance is pleased to introduce the North East as the borough's first dementia friendly area council. The chair of the DAA, supported by Age UK Barnsley has encouraged businesses in Cudworth to become dementia friendly, evidenced by the forget me not stickers displayed in windows. Dementia Law Clinic
Are you or someone you care for living with Dementia and have legal concerns? We are working with The University of Manchester to offer FREE legal advice to help you live well with dementia. A poster has been generated and circulated to Barnsley's GP practices, to raise awareness of the website and the dementia friendly services available throughout Barnsley. See if you can spot the full version complete with images in your local surgery!
The Multi-Agency Dementia Group Carers event
In October the Multi-Agency Dementia Group held a second workshop with Service providers and Carers of people with dementia. The event was well attended and further developments of the brand new Dementia Support Plan were achieved. Work is continuing on this and further updates will be provided.

The Multi-Agency Dementia Group
The Multi-Agency Dementia Group held a workshop with Carers of people with dementia in March and the group agreed to support the development of a brand new Dementia Co-operation Plan to support the person with dementia to live well. Work is being done on this and updates will be given.
